[🕊️QT Meditation] Why Did It Have to Be Melchizedek? The writer of Hebrews speaks clearly: "Jesus was designated by God to be High Priest in the order of Melchizedek" (Hebrews 5:10; 7:17, 21). This isn't just symbolic. It's a divine declaration that Jesus accomplished what the Levitical priesthood never could — He fully and finally dealt with the problem of sin. 1. The Limitations of Human Priests For thousands of years, the people of Israel lived under the Levitical priesthood . Yet they never experienced full forgiveness or true salvation . Levitical priests were human, sinful, and temporary . Their sacrifices only brought temporary atonement , and because they eventually died, they couldn’t serve as ongoing mediators. This system could never permanently bring people into the presence of God . It was, by nature, incomplete.
